Dr. Hany Besada is a distinguished Senior Research Fellow at the United Nations University-Institute for Natural Resources in Africa. Dr. Besada’s extensive career includes various positions at prestigious organizations including the Diamond Development Initiative (DDI), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), North-South Institute (NSI), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), and South African Ministry of Local and Provisional Government. Dr. Besada is a prolific author with over 80 peer-reviewed scholarly journal papers, numerous policy papers, opinion pieces, and 15 books to his credit. He earned his PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom.
